We understand that the evacuation order was lifted at 12:00 pm PST for Williams Lake, and downgraded to an evacuation alert. Residents are free to return to their homes and general access to the area is now permitted.
Below we’ve put together some helpful information for those customers returning home and what they should do next:
- Determine whether or not your home lost power during the evacuation and for how long. To confirm if your home was affected by a power outage during the evacuation, and to what extent, please check the BCHydro website.
- Under the terms of every homeowner policy (including tenants and condo policies), customers are entitled to up to 30 days of Mass Evacuation additional living expenses (ALE). This portion of your policy provides coverage for additional living expenses and responds until the civil authority order is lifted, or up to 30 days, whichever happens first.
- If you have filed a claim with us, please remember to keep and organize all of your receipts to discuss with your adjuster at a later time.
- If you return home and notice any damages relating to the fire, please contact us at 1-866-464-2424, and we will arrange to have an adjuster meet with you as soon as possible.
If at any time you have questions or would like to speak to an adjuster, please call us 24/7 at 1-866-464-2424. For those who are permitted home, we wish you a safe journey back.
